Biography

Myrtle Carl, 95, the wife of the late Elzie Carl, died February 18 2010. Born February 27, 1914, she was a caring person with many friends and the mother of William E. (Patricia) Carl and Bobby E. (Phyllis) Carl. Also surviving are sisters, Nellie Holland, Gladys (Jim) Sutherland, Florence Rice, Lora Bell (Amos) Rice, Clara Lewis, and a brother, Kenneth Slugantz, along with five grandchildren, Pamela (Brent) Durham, Gina (Kent) Laufenburger, Susan (Greg) Fishman, Tracie (Ted) Nagel, Bobby Carl Jr., and thirteen great grandchildren, Josiah, Lucia, Trinity, Isaac Durham, Grant and Lisa Laufenburger; Joshua, Makayala, and Chad Fishman; Sam and Annabel Nagel, Thomas Mims, and Alexander Carl. Funeral services will be 11 am Monday, Feb. 22 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Marcum officiating. Burial will follow in Versailles Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ted Nagel, Kent Laufenburger, Bobby Carl, Jr., Thomas Mims, Josiah Durham, and Greg Fishman. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Visitation is from 1 to 5 pm Sunday, Feb. 21 at the funeral home.
