James “Crawford” Donaldson, 86, widower of Winifred Donaldson, died Monday, January 25 at the Hurstbourne Care Center in Louisville. A retired driver for Harrod-Carter construction employee, he was a U. S. Army veteran and served in the Korean Conflict in Korea. Born in Jefferson City, TN, he was a son of the late Ralph Sr. and Nellie Tate Donaldson. He grew up in Jefferson City and was a member of the Martha Davis Baptist Church, but resided most of his adult life in Versailles where he attended the First Baptist Church. He moved to Eden Terrace Assisted Living Center in Louisville in 2005. Survivors include four daughters, Emily (Aaron) Hamilton of Midway, Denise Lee of Louisville, Desiree (Tony) Anthony of Louisville, Dorcas (Carl) Beatty of Lexington, one son, David Donaldson of Washington, DC, two sisters, Mildred Turner of Dayton, OH, Edith McBee of Jefferson City, TN, two brothers, Lonas (Geraldine) Donaldson of Springfield, OH, Franklin Donaldson of Xenia, OH, a sister-in-law, Nancy Donaldson of Dayton, OH, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, E. Jean Smith, Margaret Langston, Betty Donaldson, and two brothers, Ralph and Kenneth Donaldson. Visitation is from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Friday, January 29. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday, January 29 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Willis Polk officiating. Pallbearers will be Benjamin Pennie, Aaron Hamilton, David Hamilton, Craig Irvine, Glenn Caise, and Ronald Smith. Burial will follow at Steele Cemetery.
