David Clay Shropshire Jr.

David Clay Shropshire, Jr., 81, husband of Margaret Garrett Shropshire, died Saturday, January 16, at his home, Garret’s Preemption Farm. Born in Lexington, he was a graduate of Somerset High School, attended the University of Kentucky and graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. David served in the U. S. Marine Corps and then went to work for Ross Gear and Tool Company which later became a division of TRW. He retired in 1989 as vice-president of Automotive Engineering Worldwide for TRW and returned to Kentucky. He was an Elder and Trustee at Pisgah Presbyterian Church, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of the Sons of the Revolution and was a Colonial Warrior. In addition to his wife, survivors include four children, Salenda (Robert) Fisher of Jacksonville, FL, David Clay (Barbara) Shropshire, III, of Shawnee, KS, D. Garrett (Amy) Shropshire of Leawood, KS, Laura Shropshire of Corning, NY, a sister, Gwen Gorham of VA, and three grandchildren, David Clay (Mallory) Shropshire IV, D. Garrett Shropshire Jr., and William Shropshire, all of Kansas. A Memorial Service was at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 19 at Pisgah Presbyterian Church with Dr. Victor Priebe officiating. Private interment was at Pisgah Cemetery.
