Obituary for Bobby Joe Greenlee

Born in Whitley County, Mt. Ash, KY, Bobby Joe Greenlee passed this life on April 24, 2018 at the VA Hospital in Lexington, KY. Son of the late James and Florence Greenlee, he leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 51 years, Jacqueline Troxler Greenlee, along with his four children: Daughter Jacqueline Rana Bigsby (Craig), Son’s Robert Martin (Candace) of Lexington, and Joseph Neal (Nydia) and Daryl Jerome of Versailles, KY.

“Bobby Joe,” who he was affectionately called, was an accomplished military veteran who climbed the ranks at the Army Depot in Richmond, KY. He was a faithful member of St. Paul AME Church where he served in the Mass Choir and the Men’s Choir. He loved making a joyful noise unto the Lord. He was preceded in death by a sister, brother and two grandchildren. Bobby had three grandchildren, and four sisters and brothers, including: Junior Frank Greenlee (Imogene), Beauleh Frances Walton, Don Wesley Greenlee (Alice), James Edward Greenlee (Jeralene), Jaquetta Magaline Greenlee, Stella May Ashford, and Norman Eugene Tye (Delores).

Bobby Joe was always willing to lend a helping hand and he remained the backbone of his family and a man of God. He will indeed be missed and cherished always.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm on Monday April 30, 2018 at St. Paul AME Church, Versailles. Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:30 pm on Monday, following the visitation, with Rev. Dr. Robert A. Strode officiating. Pallbearers are Demetrius Smith, Marcel Williams, Luis Nieves, Andre Greenlee, Craig Greenlee, and Greg Greenlee. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Bradshaw, Stephen Franklin, Sherman Morten, George Troxler, and Elzie Southerland. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
